  • What is pilates?

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1930s and originally called “Contrology”, Pilates is an exercise method thoughtfully designed to increase muscle strength and endurance, improve flexibility, posture and balance through mindful engagement of the center of the body. The basis of the exercises are rooted in the 6 core Pilates principles of Precision, Flow, Control, Breathing, Concentration and Centre. Aside from the immense physical benefits, a consistent Pilates practice greatly improves overall wellbeing and state of mind.

  • Difference between reformer and mat?

Reformer Pilates is the most popular pilates equipment; it uses a sliding carriage with varying spring tensions for resistance. Reformer focuses on dynamic movement and core strength, while mat is more focused on building a foundation of knowledge for future workouts while keeping your body fully engaged.

A full-body workout is what you’ll get with both types of classes.

  • Is pilates for my body type?

What’s unique and special about Pilates is the vast number of modifications and progressions for every body type, age and gender; a truly skilled Pilates Instructor will never make you feel left out, insecure or incapable. Maintaining a dedicated Pilates practice will not only improve your physical wellbeing but also bring greater self-confidence on and off the apparatus.
